Bright and Simple Negative Space Nail Art

Bright Spring Colours Negative Space Nail Art using Barry M Gelly Damson, Greenberry and Key Lime and Kiko Yellow - www.hairnailsetc.blogspot.co.uk / ig@amyforsythe

Negative space. Again! It's one of my favourite styles at the moment. This was totally inspired by a manicure I saw on instagram by @twi_star.

It was really easy to create this design. I started with a few layers of base coat to even out my natural nail colour (I'd been wearing Nail Envy for a few days before so I had a head start). Then I used striping tape to mark out the spaces and painted over the whole nail with a thick coat of polish. Once the tape was removed I simply left them to dry. I haven't used top coat here, mainly because I'm running out, but also I just didn't feel it was necessary.

My favourite part of this simple design is the bright colours, I think it looks quite fresh and Spring-y! The polishes I used were Barry M Gelly Nail Paints in Damson, Greenberry and Key Lime; and also Kiko Nail Lacquer in 279 Yellow (swatched and reviewed here).

Sometimes I think the simple designs are the most effective. Are you a fan of negative space? Or is it time I moved on and found a new nail art trend?!
